Single Vehicle Crash In Clay County Injures Two People

July 10, 2020

(Spencer)– Two people sustained minor injuries Tuesday in a single vehicle crash in Clay county.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says 27-year-old Rosa Guadiana Escamilla of Storm Lake lost control of a 2005 Dodge Dakota while traveling southbound in the 4600 mile of Highway 71. Deputies say there was an excessive amount of weight in the back end of the truck bed, causing it to lose traction. The vehicle went into the east ditch and rolled, coming to rest on its wheels.

Escamilla and a passenger were taken to Spencer Hospital with possible head and neck injuries.

The pickup was totaled.

Escamilla was cited for driving or towing an unsafe vehicle.
