Dickinson Co. Supervisors Approve Reduction In Speed Limit Along Portions Of A Road On The South Side Of Center Lake

July 08, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– The speed limit is about to be reduced along portions of a road on the south side of Center Lake.

The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday approved a proposal to reduce the speed limit on portions of 165th Street from 30 mph currently to 25 mph. The new speed limit is for those areas where the county and the city of Spirit Lake have jurisdiction over the road. The speed limit on the westerly portion of the road where the city of Okoboji has jurisdiction, will remain at 30 mph.

A resident of the area came to the county last month requesting the lower speed limit, siting safety concerns in the area of Kwik Star and a location just west of there where the road has several curves in it.
