Registration underway for Iowa Rocks Talent Competition

July 06, 2020

(Arnolds Park)-While the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association has postponed their Hall of Fame Induction celebration which was for Labor Day weekend, they may still be having the Iowa Rocks Talent perform in the Iowa Great Lakes.

Executive Director Clay Norris says, young musicians can enter online to compete in the battle of the band type of event.  “The way that it usually works is that the prelims would be in regional sites across the State of Iowa.  Well, we’re going to do that virtually.  We’re posting that they can start putting up their videos submissions.  They’ve got 3 weeks or a month to submit those to us, and then I think we’re going to try to do it like an American Idol type of thing, where the public gets some input on this, too.  The combination of the public and some judges to winnow it down to the group that, keep our fingers crossed, we can have them here Labor Day Weekend to perform.  We’re also hoping to bring some other groups that are willing to come and make it a smaller, outside type of concert that weekend if we can.”

The Iowa Rocks Talent competition is for musicians 21 and under.
