Keep Okoboji Blue seeking Volunteers for Beach Clean-up July 11

The non-profit group Keep Okoboji Blue is co-hosting a beach clean-up this coming Saturday.

Director Kyle Hamilton says they are seeking volunteers to help with the effort.  “We’ll give away some merchandise to the people show up and help out, it’s completely volunteer-based, and it’s Saturday morning, starts at 10 o’clock.  We meet at the parking lot in between the bridges.  Meet there, group up, and then we’ll send people out in teams of 2 to 4 people to go hit a certain stretch of beach or shoreline that we know just has a lot of debris and things like that so it doesn’t end up back in the Lake. “

He adds that it’s helpful if people sign up in advance.  “We’d really kind of like to know in advance, and that would be via a link found on our facebook site.  It’s not actually a sign-up sheet, but it’s just something that says, hey, I will be there, I’m interested, I’m going and expect me to be there.  It’ll ask how many people you are bringing, 2, 4 people, whatever it may be.  We just want an idea so we can have some materials available, product available for giveaways and things like that, and just kind of have a handle on how many people we can get into different beaches.”
