Okoboji Foundation Awards More Than A Quarter Of A Million Dollars In Grants

(Arnolds Park)– The Okoboji Foundation announced today (Wed.) it has awarded more than a quarter of a million dollars in funding through its 2020 grant program. Requests this year totaled $878,000. 

Awards granted this year include:

  • $75,000 to the Dickinson County Trails Board for phase III of its rail trail project
  • $75,000 to the Spirit Lake Community School District for the Spirit Lake Community Park project
  • $50,000 to the city of Okoboji for a pickleball complex
  • $25,000 to Historic Arnolds Park, Inc. to refresh the midway
  • $25,000 to the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association for an interactive digital hall of fame exhibit

In addition, the foundation’s Youth in Philanthropy initiative raised an additional $66,072. Grants awarded through that program include:

  • $24,483 to Iowa Lakeside Laboratory for a water quality buoy on Big Spirit Lake
  • $10,000 to the city of Milford for the Florence Park shelter house expansion
  • $10,000 to the Okoboji Foundation Disaster Relief Recovery Fund to assist those affected by COVID-19
  • $9,089 to Hope Haven to renovate their building in Spirit Lake
  • $7,500 to Lutheran Lakeside Camp for trail improvements
  • $5,000 to the Dickinson County Fair Board for the construction of a new cattle shed
