(Spirit Lake)– The YMCA is continuing its free food distribution program for the foreseeable future. Andrew Fisher of the Bedell Family YMCA says this marks the third week for the program and that they’re adding a site…
“This week we are adding a new space for distribution. We’ll actually have volunteers distributing food at the Milford HLPC down in Milford at the mall there, in the parking lot, from 5:30 until 6:00 as well as at the Bedell Family YMCA from 5:30 until 6:00 in front of the building, so right there at our main entrance. These meals are made possible by the Okoboji Foundation Disaster Relief Fund and we’re greatly appreciative of them making those dollars available for us to help make sure that families have opportunities to have meals just to support the community during this challenging timeframe.”
The brown bag meal consists of a sandwich, apple, carrot sticks, chips and ice cream. Fisher says all you need to do is show up…
“We do a first-come, first-serve. We don’t ask for identification of any kind of specific support needs. There’s no questions in regards to that. We would love to be able to run out of food on a nightly basis. That’s our goal.”
He says they distribute 100 meals at each location during each session. Again those are held from 5:30 to 6:00 pm Wednesday and Thursday evenings at the Milford Healthy Living Program Center parking lot and at the front of the Bedell Family YMCA in Spirit Lake.
