Iowa DNR Extends Closure Of Campgrounds & Other Park Facilities Through Mid-May

April 25, 2020

(Des Moines)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources announced today (Friday) it’s extending the closures of campgrounds and other park facilities the agency operates through May 14th, 2020.

It includes campgrounds, including youth and group camps; bathrooms, including pit latrines and port-a-potties; playgrounds; cabins, shelters and lodges and visitor centers and museums.

All programs and events at those facilities are also canceled or postponed through atleast May 14th, 2020.

The DNR says they will work with guests to cancel reservations. The agency says for those who have reservations for the month of May after the closure dates and feel canceling their stay is the safest choice, the DNR will waive the cancellation fee.

Cancellations should be made by calling 877-427-2757.

State parks and forests remain open for day use but visitors are reminded to abide by social distancing rules.
