(Johnston)– The Iowa Department of Public Health today (Monday) reported an additional 257 cases of COVID-19 bringing the state’s total to 3,159 so far. Four additional deaths were also reported today (Mon.) bringing the total number of fatalities in Iowa so far to 79.
There were 214 hospitalizations due to COVID-19 as of this (Mon.) morning with 91 in intensive care units and 58 on ventilators.
Two new outbreaks were reported in the state, including one at a long-term care facility which is not in our area, as well as at a meat processing plant in Tama county. Speaking at a press conference this (Mon.) morning, Governor Kim Reynolds said additional clusters of cases will likely continue to surface for some time to come. And she says she has no plans to issue an executive order to temporarily close the facilities for a deep cleaning…
It was also reported that as of today (Mon.), there have been atleast two positive cases of COVID-19 in the state’s prison system.
