Pearson Lakes Art Center offering Easter Egg Hike through Outdoor Sculpture Trail this weekend

April 10, 2020

(Okoboji)-The Pearson Lakes Art Center is hosting an Easter Egg Hike around the outdoor sculpture trail surrounding the Art Center.

Executive Director Bob Kirschbaum says it’s a safe way for families to have a free, fun outdoor activity:

PLAC to offer Easter Egg Hike

“We’re going to do a Sculpture Art Egg Hike so people can go out and practice their safe distancing while they’re out on a hike with their families, going around trying to find the 10 eggs.  On each egg there will be a letter or a number, they aren’t to touch the eggs, just record the letters or the numbers, and when they find all 10 of them, then they’re to unscrabble the words that those 10 eggs make up.  So, it will be a fun, family activity since they won’t be able to go out and do egg hunts in the community, this way they can do an egg hike and enjoy our sculpture trail at the Art Center.”

The Art Center encourages families to take photos and post using #PLACsculptureart and #pearsonlakesartcenter.

The Pearson Lakes Art Center is offering some guidelines for outdoor visitors:

*Small family groups only and practice safe social distancing while on the trail remaining 6 feet apart. Be courteous and share the space. This is not a social event, just a time for individual families.

*PLEASE do not touch the eggs! Families simply need to record the letter or symbol on each egg.  By leaving them in their spot everyone will be able to find them and participate in a safe manner.

*Park in the main parking lot and begin around the sculptures in the grassy area around the pergola structure continuing along the sidewalks/bike trail.  Each egg will be located near a different sculpture. (Hint: there are sculptures along the trail on the north side of the wetland.  You should be able to see each egg without stepping more than one step or so off the trail.)

*Parents, please accompany your kids and use this as a controlled and safe hike with your family.
