(Des Moines)- Iowa public health officials reported 97 new positive cases of the COVID-19 coronavirus in the State on Wednesday. This brings Iowa’s total number of COVID-19 cases to 1,145.
Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds said at her press conference on Wednesday morning that 431 of Iowa’s COVID-19 cases have recovered, which is about 38% of the state’s positive cases.
Health officials reported an additional death Wednesday, which brings the total number of deaths in Iowa to 27.
There have been 13,966 tests in the state, 12,821 of which were negative.
The Iowa Department of Public Health says there are currently 122 Iowans hospitalized due to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, Minnesota saw the largest single day gain in COVID-19 cases, with 85 new cases reported as of Wednesday morning. That brings the total confirmed cases in the state to 1,154. The number of deaths also increased by 5 to 39.
There is still just one case in Jackson County, 5 in Cottonwood County and Martin County remains at 34.
Statewide in Minnesota, almost 31,000 tests have been completed. Total requiring hospitalization is now at 271, with 135 of those still in the hospital. The number in ICU remained at 64. 632 patients in Minnesota no longer need to be isolated.
Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is scheduled to update his response plan for the state at 2 pm today.
