RSVP event to honor Volunteers during National Volunteer Month put on hold

April 06, 2020

(Estherville)-RSVP, or the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, is honoring their many volunteers locally and across the country during National Volunteer Month in April.

Linda Anderson is the RSVP Coordinator for Emmet County, who says their plans were put on hold by the coronavirus outbreak.  “The week of April 19 through 25 is actually the National Volunteer Week, and because of t he coronavirus things have kind of changed.  We were planning a surprise for our Volunteers, and that will probably take place at a later date.”

She adds that while Volunteers are unable  to perform many of their regular duties, they have found some ways to be of help from home.  “We have several that do Quilts of Valor, and are making facemasks.  We also have the SHIP program, that is the Senior Health Insurance Information Program, and we have people that do taxes.”

RSVP in Northwest Iowa is based out of the Iowa Lakes Community College campuses in the region.
