(Milford)– The Dickinson County Recycling Center announced earlier this week it was reverting back to its winter hours due to concerns with COVID-19. Today (Fri.), Center Manager Charles Vigdal announced some additional changes that have gone into effect and will remain in place until further notice…
“We’re only accepting green waste at this time because that can be safely disposed of here without a lot of handling by the staff and we’re not accepting any household hazardous waste at this time, any electronics, tires and things like that because of the increased contact with people and the public and us, and we’d just like to keep everybody safe.”
Vigdal says they’ve also put into place a payment dropbox and two-way communications system to limit personal contact…
“I’ve had one person do it and it works out pretty well. It just limits the contact with me and other people because I get a lot of, you know since this is springtime you get a lot of people coming in and it kind of is helping me and other people so we don’t become a hub for people dropping stuff off and spreading this disease, so we just kind of have to think on our feet right now.”
Again, the Dickinson County Recycling Center is currently open for green waste disposal only from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
