(Spirit Lake)– We told you earlier in the week about a series of scams associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Authorities say there’s another one you need to be aware of as well. This one involves those stimulus checks being expected through the Coronavirus Relief Program.
Authorities say you need to be on the lookout for emails, texts or calls claiming they can give you an early stimulus check of something similar to that.
Officials say anything related to stimulus payments will arrive by US mail. Those who have automatic deposit information filed with the IRS will have their funds directly deposited to their accounts. That’s expected to happen sometime over the next several weeks.
Officials again remind everyone not to click on links in text messages, emails, or reply to robocalls, especially those coming from sources you aren’t familiar with.
