Iowa, Minnesota Release Updated COVID-19 Numbers

(Des Moines)– The Iowa Department of Public Health reported late this (Wed.) morning an additional 52 positive cases of COVID-19 in the state, bringing the total number of confirmed cases so far to 549. Along with that, the agency is reporting two more deaths, with one each in Polk and Washington counties. Both were elderly adults 81 and over.

A confirmed case was reported Tuesday evening in O’Brien county, with a second case in that county reported this (Wed.) morning. None of the other new cases reported today (Wed.) are from northwest Iowa.

In Minnesota, the Department of Health in that state today (Wed.) is reporting 689 positive cases since the outbreak began, with 17 deaths. The number of hospitalizations as of today (Wed.) stood at 54, with 27 of those in intensive care units.

Martin county remains a hot spot in the region, with 29 positive cases reported so far.
