NW Iowa Man Sentenced On Federal Meth Charge (1)

March 31, 2020

(Sioux City)– A Denison man has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison on a meth charge.

31-year-old Jose Carlos Ramirez-Martinez was sentenced Tuesday after a jury found him guilty in December of last year of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine.

Evidence presented at his trial showed Ramirez-Martinez was involved in a conspiracy that distributed more than 50 grams of pure meth from October, 2015 through September 2016 from the Denison area. The evidence showed Ramirez-Martinez would have co-conspirators travel from Denison to Worthington, Minnesota to deliver half pound quantities of methamphetamine for sale in Iowa, Minnesota and South Dakota. The co-conspirators would then return with the money.

Ramirez-Martinez is being held in the custody of a U.S. Marshal pending transport to a federal prison.
