(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county is urging residents to refrain from making any unnecessary trips to the courthouse.
Citizens are being asked to use online payment methods for things such as motor vehicle registrations and property taxes, and to obtain forms. They are available on the county’s website at dickinsoncountyiowa.org. Those who cannot conduct business online should call ahead to see if the matter can handled over the phone (See the department listing and numbers below).
Citizens may also mail payments and other items to the courthouse or use the drop box outside the west entrance.
The courthouse does remain open and county business continues to be conducted.
Officials say the action is being taken out of concern for the health of the public and county employees.
On a related matter, it was announced today (Monday) the Dickinson County Nature Center is closed to the public until further notice.
County officials say they’ll continue to provide updates as needed.
