Arnolds Park Man Faces Multiple Charges After Being Pulled Over In O’Brien County For Alleged Erratic Driving

March 05, 2020

(Primghar)– An Arnolds Park man was arrested on multiple charges Monday after authorities in O’Brien county investigated a report of a vehicle that was being driven erratically on a level B road about three miles west of Sanborn.

A deputy pulled over the vehicle and reported a strong smell of alcohol coming from it. Contact was made with the driver, 35-year-old Darrell Sorey of Arnolds Park. Court documents say Sorey told the deputy he was driving erratically because he and a female passenger were having sex, and that while visiting with the deputy, Sorey kept reaching toward the door area.

Sorey was taken into custody and a consent search was conducted on the vehicle, resulting in deputies finding a stun gun.

Sorey was arrested and charged with driving with a denied or revoked license, driving while barred, carrying weapons, careless driving and operating without a required interlock device.
