(Boyden)– A two-vehicle collision Tuesday on Highway 18 two and-a-half miles west of Boyden claimed a life.
The Sioux County Sheriff’s Office says 69-year-old Susan Guggisberg of Hartley was driving a 2005 GMC Envoy eastbound and 48-year-old Dean Johnson of Rochester, Minnesota was driving a 2016 Mack semi loaded with steel also eastbound behind Guggisberg. Authorities say a westbound 2002 Dodge Stratus crossed into the eastbound lane, striking the vehicle Guggisberg was driving, and then hit the semi head-on.
The driver of the Dodge, who’s name hasn’t been released pending notification of relatives, was pronounced dead at the scene.
No injuries were reported to Guggisberg and Johnson, who were alone in their vehicles.
$7,000 in damage was estimated to the GMC; damage to the semi was estimated at $100,000 while the Dodge sustained an estimated $8,000 in damage.
The collision took place shortly after 12 Noon.
