(Okoboji)-The deadline is approaching for Artists who wish to take part in the Artisans Road Trip, KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The 17th Annual Artisans Road Trip is seeking artists for the event which is held in October.
President Haley McAndrews says the Road Trip is a self-guided tour of galleries and studios around the region. “It’s an open studio and gallery tour of different artists throughout the area, from Storm Lake up to Estherville, usually. We have photography, we’ve got paintings, we’ve got sculpture, we’ve got pottery, we’ve got woodworking. Any time of medium is absolutely welcome to apply and participate.”
She adds that Artists should submit their work by March 1. “It’s very easy, we’ve got an application that’s 2 pages. The first page is just information, and the second page is basically contact information and information about your work, you know, what sort of art you make. The fee is $150, which sometimes seems a little steep but, for what you get for it, it’s really a wonderful bargain. We produce thousands of brochures every year with the contact information of every single artist, directions to their studio, we hang posters around, we send out press releases. In addition to those things, we also have 3 gallery shows.”
