Clay County Heritage announces new Exhibits in 2020

Clay County Heritage has announced two new exhibits opening at the Center in the New Year.

Director Stephanie Horsley says a new exhibit about the Spencer Fire of 1931 is available for viewing.  “We were able to receive some grant funding to make an interactive exhibit, and we wanted to do it on the Spnecer Fire, as that is that is a real timeless historical piece to our community.  The great thing about this, it’s like an interactive kiosk with a touch screen, and so you can go through it on your own and look at what you want to.  It shows a map of downtown Spencer from 1931 with different buildings, and so you can click on those.  It should be fun for all ages.  We’re really happy with how it turned out.”

She adds that the second half of the exhibit on The Cold War will open mid-month.  “Some of the topics focus on this second half include Viet Nam, The Space Race, Cuban Missile Crisis.  We also have a special display being done by students in the No Boundaries Program at Spencer High School.”

The Clay County Heritage Center is open Tuesday through Friday from 10-4 and Saturday 10-3. Admission is free.
