Former JCC Student Accused Of Threatening To “Shoot Up The School” Pleads Guilty To Lesser Charges

January 03, 2020

(Jackson, Mn.)– A former Jackson County Central student has pled guilty to lesser charges in Jackson County District Court.

20 year-old Jaleel Carr pled guilty Tuesday to disorderly conduct. Carr had been charged with threats of violence following a report from other students that he planned to “shoot up the school” in February of 2018.

Following an investigation by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office and JCC School officials, Carr was taken into custody and kept from school property the day he said he’d carry out the threat.

If the terms of the plea agreement are kept, Carr will serve one year of supervised probation, be required to complete between a 15-45 day sentence, pay a fine to be determined and write an apology to the school.

Carr is also prohibited from JCC School grounds and is to have no contact with JCC staff or employees or the student witnesses or their families.

His sentencing date has not yet been scheduled.
