(Milford)– A special program on barns will be presented at 2:00 pm this Thursday, September 26th at the Milford Memorial Library. Library Director Gillian Anderson tells KUOO news the program is titled “If Barns Could Talk”…
“So his name is Rich Tyler and he’s actually from the Iowa City area. He’s coming in on a grant from Humanities Iowa. We found him on their website and we just applied for the grant and got him to come. We thought barns would be interesting for people to learn about.”
Anderson says you’ll likely have a new appreciation for barns after you take in Tyler’s presentation…
“Barns have been used for so many different things over time. Dances, functional farming, just a lot of different things. It’s been a way for a lot of different people to get together in the community.”
Anderson says Tyler professionally has a medical background…
“Actually he’s a professor in the head and neck surgery and speech pathology and audiology department at the University of Iowa. So he just kind of does this farming on the side and restoring old barns and getting into the history behind everything.”
Thursday’s program is free of charge and open to everyone.
