Iowa DNR To Hold Series Of Meetings In October Regarding Proposed Waterfowl Season & Zone Structure For 2021-2025 Seasons

September 19, 2019

(Alta)– The Iowa Department of Natural Resources will hold a series of meetings across the state in October talking about the proposed waterfowl season and zone structure for the 2021-2025 waterfowl hunting seasons.

Results will be presented from the statewide hunter survey and there will be a review of federal rules and guidelines pertaining to waterfowl hunting along with the proposed season and zone structure.

The meeting for northwest Iowa is scheduled for 6:00 pm Wednesday, October 23rd at the Community Center in Alta.

The DNR says feedback from the meetings will be reviewed before an official proposal is submitted to commissioners for consideration. If approved, the rule would go through an open comment period before going back to the commission for final approval.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service allows states to make changes to their waterfowl zones and boundaries every five years. Any changes would be reflected in the 2021-2025 waterfowl seasons.
