Spencer Man Wanted On Drug Charge Taken Into Custody

September 16, 2019

(Spencer)– A Spencer man was arrested this past Thursday on a drug charge stemming from a traffic stop that had been made previously.

The Clay County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy pulled over a vehicle shortly after 8:00 am September 8th from an alleged traffic violation. Authorities say the driver of the vehicle was arrested and that a passenger, 42-year-old Sean Christopher Reed of Spencer, was released.

As part of the investigation, deputies deployed a K-9 Unit on the vehicle which alerted to an odor of narcotics in it. Authorities then obtained a warrant to search the vehicle, resulting in them finding what’s alleged to be marijuana inside the vehicle where Reed had allegedly been sitting.

Authorities say Reed was arrested on a warrant this past Thursday charging him with possession of a controlled substance…marijuana…3rd offense. He was booked into jail pending an initial court appearance.
