Some Improvements Are Being Unveiled At A Popular Attraction In Southwest Minnesota

June 25, 2026

(Jeffers, Mn.)– Some improvements are being unveiled at a popular attraction in southwest Minnesota. The Jeffers Petroglyphs is home to thousands of native American rock carvings dating back to as long as 7,000 years ago.

A newly renovated visitor center has opened for the summer that includes a recreated tipi; a reproduction petroglyph that visitors can actually touch; a sunrise/sunset exhibit and murals. An open house to officially unveil the newly redesigned visitor center will be held this Saturday (June 27th), with free admission to the site that day.

The project was made possible by the state of Minnesota’s Legacy Amendment approved by voters in 2008.

The Jeffers Petroglyphs site is located about an hour and-a-half north of the Iowa Great Lakes.
