Wahpeton Tweaking Seasonal Landscape Waste Burning

February 10, 2026

(Wahpeton)– The city of Wahpeton is revising an ordinance pertaining to the burning of yard waste. Currently, the city allows a two week period to do that in the spring and again in the fall. Darin Peterson of the city’s Water and Public Works Departments suggested open that window a bit further at Monday’s city council meeting…

The revision approved at Monday’s meeting puts those new 30 day timeframes from mid October to mid November in the fall and from mid April until mid May in the spring.

The council voted unanimously in favor of the change, adding they’ll gauge public input as to if any additional changes should be made in the future.
