(Lakefield, Mn.)– Area corn and soybean crops continue to look good, but Jim Nesseth of Extended Ag Services of Lakefield says it’s going to be important we break out of the unseasonably cool weather soon…
“Really what we’re looking for right now on both the corn and soybeans is we need warmer temperatures and I really think we’ll see these crops take off. But things overall look really good and as we talked about last week, Steve, the two big things that we’ve got going for us this year on this year’s crop from 2025 is that we’ve got early planting dates, which is really important for yield, and then we’re planting from fence row to fence row, we don’t have those spots where we had to turn around and drowned out spots and things like that, so I’m just excited we could have some really good crop this year.”
Nesseth says the ongoing moisture has delayed the first cutting of alfalfa.
