(Arnolds Park)– The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association is putting out a call for entries for the 2026 Iowa Rocks Talent Contest. Ted Poulsen, President of the organization, says it’s open to young musicians throughout Iowa who are under the age of 21. He says it gives them the opportunity to showcase their talents, interact with fellow young musicians and get input from professionals in the industry…
“I can tell you that I’m the President of the organization and this is how I got my kind of start with this organization. My son entered this contest and wound up winning the band part of it. But a great opportunity for the youth, always a lot of fun and a way to meet a lot of folks.”
Poulsen says there will be two divisions of competitions, with the first round being conducted virtually through video submission…
“There is a grand prize for the winner of the band competition, there’s an opportunity to record at Catamount Studios. We’re actually working on another opportunity for the solo winner to record with Gary Lambert locally in his recording studio. So a lot of cool opportunities. We’re also going to have a panel of experts that are going to talk and have a chance to interact with people that kind of make the finals.”
Applications and more information can be found at the Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association’s website or by contacting their museum in Arnolds Park. The deadline is 11:59 pm Friday, July 31st.
