Investigation Underway Into Waterfowl Deaths In Southern Minnesota

December 26, 2024 Steve Schwaller

(St. Paul, MN)– The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources is investigating the death of dozens of waterfowl in the southern half of the state.

The agency says it received more than two dozen reports in 20 counties through the middle of this month. The birds that died include Canadian geese and different types of swans.

Testing on some of the birds found they had avian flu.

Anyone who spots a group of more than five dead birds is asked to contact the DNR to report the location.
