(Pocahontas)– A juvenile has been charged for allegedly setting a shelter house on fire at a park in Pocahontas.
Police in that town received a report Monday evening that the west shelter house in Elbert Park was on fire. Upon arriving they discovered the shelter house was fully engulfed in flames. An investigation was launched based on some evidence that was discovered. It was determined that a 16-year-old male allegedly entered the shelter house and lit a fire under the surveillance system. The video led to a search warrant being obtained and executed. The 16-year-old was located and charged with 1st Degree Criminal Mischief and 2nd Degree Degree Arson, both class C felonies…and Possession of Marijuana, a serious misdemeanor.
The juvenile was sent to the Youth Emergency Services Detention Center in Cherokee.
