(Spirit Lake)– Officials with Dickinson County Public Health and Lakes Regional Healthcare continue to seek public input on a health needs assessment. Katy Carey gave an update at Tuesday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. To no surprise, she says based on preliminary results, they’re expecting some of the same needs identified over the past several years will once again top the list…
“I mean mental health continues to be up there with the preliminary results. We’re seeing concerns about drug abuse, alcohol abuse. Those continue to be concerns in our area, so. We’ll see where the numbers end up but the more voices we get in the conversation, the better pulse we can get on what people are interested in.”
Dickinson County Attorney Steve Goodlow says he can back up the ongoing issue with illicit drugs based on the activity his office is seeing…
“We had here in the last month a very active period through law enforcement here and we thought we had shut down a fairly significant methamphetamine supplier, and you know the supply is going to pop up in a different spot. And it did pop up in a different spot: it was laced with fentanyl. So we have a few of our addicts that we’re concerned about if they live or not.”
Anyone who has not yet completed the health needs assessment is asked to do so. You can do that by clicking here.
