(Sioux City)– A northwest Iowa woman has been sentenced for her role in stealing firearms and other valuables from a family member’s home.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Iowa says 24-year-old Tresa Fiedler of Le Mars was sentenced Tuesday in Sioux City to more than seven years in federal prison. She pleaded guilty in September, 2023, to one count each of conspiracy to possess stolen firearms and possession of stolen firearms.
Evidence showed that on October 1st, 2021, Fiedler had been involved in a home burglary where she and another person, Ian Bigler, stole 10 guns. Authorities say the burglary was pre-meditated. They say Fiedler and Bigler also took steps to conceal the conspiracy. Authorities say Fiedler fled from police on October 11th, 2021 with a pickup containing evidence of the burglary, including a pistol stolen during the incident. They say that on October 15th, 2021, Bigler equipped himself with a bulletproof vest and two firearms, including a pistol stolen during the burglary, along with a shortened shot shotgun, and hid from law enforcement at a home in North Sioux City, holding another person against their will.
Bigler was sentenced in July of last year in federal court to 15 years in prison in the same case.
