(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) heard nearly two hours of public comments on a proposal from Invenergy to expand its Red Rock wind farm by constructing additional turbines in eastern Dickinson county. A group called Dickinson County Concerned Citizens again called on county officials to adopt a moratorium on the construction of any new turbines until updates can be made to a zoning ordinance regulating them. However, Kristy Rogers, an attorney representing Invenergy, argued the county’s existing zoning ordinance on wind turbines already addresses the concerns brought up by the group. Jamie Hunter, an attorney representing Dickinson County Concerned Citizens, argued a moratorium would NOT be illegal, saying the supervisors have every right to put one in place….
The supervisors adjourned the meeting following the comments, as action on a moratorium wasn’t included as part of today’s (Tues.) meeting agenda.
