(Sherburn, Mn.)– Another area school district is assessing its facilities for possible upgrades. Cori Reynolds, Superintendent at Martin County West, says a study was recently completed on the district’s aging buildings…
“From the roof all the way down to the bowels of each building, to inventory, everything we have and what shape it’s in. They put together a report that report is on our district website. They costed it out, what does it all cost to fix or replace or repair so yeah we know all that at this point. So now it’s just a matter of figuring out where we go from here, knowing that.”
Reynolds says the board met a week ago and narrowed the options to three…
“So we’re looking at one site, either a brand new building, which there’s gonna be some sticker shock, that’s obviously the most expensive option, but there’s a lots of pros and cons to that that I think as a community we need to talk about and wrestle with. Another idea on the table is to renovate, and add on to on of our current buildings in Sherburn. So either Sherburn Elementary or the high school to make it work for all of our students, K-12, pre-k to 12. So those are two of the ideas on the table and then the third one is to renovate and add on to what is currently Trimont Elementary and Sherburn Elementary.”
Reynolds says they’ll be holding meetings in coming months to get additional public input before making a decision on which option to pursue.
