(Spencer)– Some more dead and dying trees in Spencer will be coming down soon. The city council Monday evening awarded the low bid of $17,000 to a Rock Valley company to do the work.
Parks and Recreation Director Bob Fullhart says it will involve the removal of 25 trees…
“It’s just trees scattered around town that have structural hazards that are in need of removal. We’ll continue on, we’ll find, we’ll continue to see this happen as we kind of come out of the flood damage and everything else. We’re going to see trees that will decline for us, unfortunately.”
Fullhart says the bid includes pruning of five other trees…
“Those five that are being pruned have some major structural hazards, or I shouldn’t say structural, they have some major dieback in them that just needs to be removed out of them. We worked that in with this contract. But for this it’s just a quick removal, take out, get it out of the way, remove the trees that are the hazards out there versus having an arborist in a situation where we need to, we want to maintain the canopy on these trees when we have the arborist come in.”
The work is expected to get underway in the coming weeks.
