(Undated)– Travel conditions across the region remain a challenge, especially in open areas where ground drifting is continuing, but road crews are making progress. Dickinson County Emergency Management Coordinator Mike Ehret says they’ve been hard at it since earlier this (Thurs.) morning…
“They’ve been out since 5:00 or 6:00 this morning and getting the drifts knocked back and the snow moved off, so. Still some snow blowing around out there and probably a little blowing and drifting going on, but for the most part the roads are improving. They’ll probably be slick through the day so you’ll want to take a little extra time if you’ve got to get anywhere today and if you can wait, wait. But if you’ve got to go just plan on some extra time to get where you need to be.”
Ehret says everyone seemed to heed the warnings with this particular storm…
“I believe there were just a couple of calls regarding vehicles that were stuck, so. Folks did a really good job of just staying home and so forth while the storm was going on and we certainly appreciate that. It makes all of our lives a whole lot easier, so.”
Ehret reminds everyone to continue to use caution around plows as the clean up is expected to continue into the coming days…
“Just, you know, give them extra room and as you meet them on the highway or see them in town and just give them extra space to do their job.”
There also could be limited visibility at some intersections due to snow piles.
