Dickinson County Fair Enters Home Stretch

July 19, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Fair may be entering it’s final days, but there’s still a lot to see and do. Madeleine Bretey-Smith, Youth Ag Coordinator with ISU Extension and Outreach Dickinson County says there are a couple of fun events coming up this (Tues.) evening to check out…

“Tonight from 5:00 to 7:00 we’re going to be having the Beef Producer dinner at the Expo Center and then tonight at 7:00 we’re going to be starting our Farm Chore Olympics in the Outdoor Arena which is a fun thing that our 4-H club, the Milford Pioneers, puts on every year.”

She says Wednesday will be a very busy day at the fair…

“Tomorrow at 8:00 am our Swine Show is going to start at the indoor arena. Our exhibit building will be open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm to look at all of the static projects that the kids have worked on throughout the year. 1:00 to 2:00 will be our Pedal Tractor Pull at the Expo; 2:00 to 4:00 is going to be our Overall Showmanship Contest, so the best from all of our animal shows will come back into the ring and show other animals that they’re not necessarily used to showing. From 4:30 we will have our Fashion and Communication Showcase in the Expo, and then immediately after that at 5:30 we will have our fair awards program.”

The Dickinson County Fair concludes Thursday with a freewill offering pancake breakfast put on by the Dickinson County Youth Council from 6:30 until 8:00 am, followed by the livestock auction.
