(Spirit Lake)– Another big bike ride will take place this weekend in the Iowa Great Lakes. The Bike Ride Around Spirit Lake, or BRASL, is this Saturday. Krista Smith of the Spirit Lake Chamber of Commerce says this year’s ride will once again feature three different routes…
“All the routes will start in downtown Spirit Lake so we have a 15 mile route, 25 and 50, so something for everyone, whether it’s a family wanting to come out and bike or some experienced bikers. Our 25 and 50 mile routes will depart at 7:15 and then the 15 mile route will depart at 9:00. Along the route there’s some rest stops, beautiful views for them to see, experience our area, and the post ride we will have lunch at The Venue, we’ll have Burger and Co. and we’ll have some social time where everyone can cool off, hang out and enjoy the day together.”
Smith says they’re seeing a lot of interest in this weekend’s ride…
“We’re just under 150. We have some spots left. We will have day-of registration in downtown Spirit Lake but if anyone would like still like to register you can still do so online up until Friday evening.”
She adds there’s an additional incentive to participate this year…
“Every ticket registration will be entered into a raffle for an E-bike giveaway. Smart Power Sports is generous to donate an E-bike to give away, so.”
Smith says BRASL is intended as a leisure ride at your own pace.
