(Milford)– Drainage District 50 on the north side of Milford was a major topic of discussion at today’s Dickinson County Board of Supervisor meeting.
Supervisors voted in December of 2019 to proceed with a project to improve the drainage system in that area and awarded a bid on the work in June 2021. They later voted to suspend the project for 90 days after learning several buildings had been constructed over drainage easements, and that the cost was going to increase significantly from nearly $293,000 that was estimated in 2019 to nearly $660,000 now. The 90 day suspension of the project runs out July 5th. An engineer on the project today (Tues.) recommended construction NOT proceed and that the drainage district be dissolved, citing a storm sewer the city of Milford constructed in the same area in 1990.
A number of property owners objected to the project at today’s (Tues.) hearing, siting concerns over substantial assessments, some as high as $82,000. They called on the county and city of Milford to work together to come up with another alternative. Supervisor Kim Wermersen agreed…
The matter will come back to the supervisors August 23rd.
