(Estherville)– Crews in Estherville early this (Mon.) morning rescued a dog that had become lodged in a cement drainage tile.
Police Chief Brent Shatto says they were notified shortly after 3:00 am this (Mon.) morning about an elderly dog that was missing in the Orchard Lane area, and that the dog’s owner could hear it barking in a ravine behind the home. Officers and the owner searched the area and eventually found the bulldog lodged in the tile in a sink hole about three feet in diameter and three feet deep. The tile was in the bottom of the hole and the dog was wedged inside the tile about another four feet.
Estherville firefighters, Emmet County Emergency Management, the Emmet County Secondary Roads Department, a veterinarian and neighbors eventually freed the dog by using shovels and a ditchwitch.
The bulldog, named “Tupelo”, was successfully removed from the tile around 6:24 this (Mon.) morning. Shatto says “Tupelo” was in great condition and was reunited with his owners.
