Longtime Okoboji City Council Member Honored For His Years Of Service

December 14, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Okoboji)– A longtime member of the Okoboji City Council who will be stepping down at the end of this month was recognized at Monday’s meeting. Jerry Robinson didn’t seek re-election to another term and is calling it quits after 16 years at the council table…

“It’s always hard to give something up that you’ve put that much time and effort into, but I think the city has come a long way in those 16 years and I’m just glad I was able to be a part of it and help keep the nature of Okoboji kind of the way we like it to be. So thank you. I appreciate all of the support we’ve had.”

Robinson says there’s a lot he’s going to miss, especially when it comes to the constituents he’s worked with over the years and fellow council members…

“I’ve been able to visit with a lot of people and meet a lot of nice people that way. And of course the relationship here with the other council people has just been invaluable and I tell you, it’s a great group of people to be working with and everyone here is kind of sympatico in how we feel about our city, so.”

Mayor Mary Vanderwoude presented Robinson with a plaque honoring him for his years of service. Robinson plans to continue to represent the city on the Arnolds Park-Okoboji Fire Board and will continue to serve on the Dickinson County Water Quality Commission.
