(Milford)– The Dickinson County Conservation Board will hold a couple of events in a partnership with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources and the Inkpaduta Canoe Trail on the Little Sioux River. Amy Heibult, Community Relations Coordinator for Conservation Board, says one of those will be held this Wednesday, July 15th…
“Our Educational Coordinator, Danika Cox, will be out at the Freda Haffner Kettle Hole where she’ll present about how glaciers shaped the land to create the kettle hole feature. Attendees will also get to hike out and hike around the kettle hole and they’ll also explore the native prairie plants that are found out there that are unique to the location.”
She says the other will be held Wednesday, July 22nd…
“Our Naturalist, Ashley Tieden, will be hosting the program out at Horseshoe Bend. Attendees will get to look at macro invertebrates of the Little Sioux. They’ll get to learn why they’re important to our ecosystem and their essential roles, and also how to identify them.”
Heibult says both sessions are free but those planning to attend are urged to sign up ahead of time online…
“They can find a link under dickinsoncountyconservationboard.com. If anyone’s interested in checking out the rest of the series that Iowa DNR is hosting, the Inkpaduta Canoe Trail website is inkpadutacanoetrail.org and the registration links are actually all found on that page as well. It’s all free. This is for all ages and just a really great way for the DNR and the Conservation Board who are wanting to promote the Little Sioux and the Inkpaduta Canoe Trail.”
Heibult says both sessions are expected to last about an hour or so.
