Seasons Center Awarded Community Mental Health Center Grant

October 29, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Spencer)– Spencer-based Seasons Center for Behavioral Health has been awarded a substantial grant to expand mental health services. Dan Riese, interim CEO and Vice President of Finance, says they’ll be receiving $1.5 million a year over the next two years as part of the Community Mental Health Center Grant…

“Really the grant is focused on trying to meet people where they’re at, provide services where they’re most comfortable. So whether that be at their home, at a school, even a library, whatever it might be. Unfortunately there’s still a stigma behind mental health and people are worried about that. We’re trying to find a place where we can meet them where they’re at, provide them services within the community, and really make sure people are getting the help that they need. COVID-19 has done a lot of damage both physically and mentally to a lot of people and so we want to make sure that we’re available for these people to get the services that they need.”

As part of that, Riese says they’ll soon be hiring additional counselors and therapists…

“We’re shooting to have, providing services, around February 1st of 2022. That will give us time to ramp up getting people hired, getting training done and things like that, so that’s our target to start being able to provide services under this grant.”

Riese adds Seasons Center will collaborate with referral services such as hospitals, schools, law enforcement, child welfare, juvenile justice and so on to help raise awareness of the additional services.
