(Milford)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously today (Tues.) to sell the former county shop property in Milford to Milford Municipal Utilities. The county will be required to dispose of a fuel barrel with the rest of the property, including the buildings, being sold as is. It includes a stipulation the county be out of there by September 30th, 2022. The county still uses the facility for cold storage, along with a fuel pump on the site. County Engineer Dan Eckert said he was concerned with the deadline, saying ideally he would like to have that extended. But he said he was confident they could make it work.
Supervisor Tim Fairchild spoke in favor of selling the site with the September 30th, 2022 deadline in place…
Fellow Supervisor Kim Wermersen said he’s in favor as well, so long as the bumped up timeline for MMU to take possession doesn’t wind up costing the county…
Eckert told the supervisors the items currently stored at the Milford location would likely be moved to the current county shop facility in Spirit Lake, which will be moving to a new location on the east side of the city. County officials say that, in turn, will affect the county’s timeline for selling the current facility in Spirit Lake.
