Dickinson County Supervisors Table Action On Hiring Engineering Firm For Proposed Pipeline Project

September 28, 2021 Steve Schwaller

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors today (Tues.) tabled action on hiring an engineering firm that would oversee agricultural related issues that would be associated with the proposed construction of a high pressure carbon dioxide pipeline through the eastern part of the county. As we reported previously, two engineering firms have expressed an interest in providing the the service, which ultimately would be paid for by the company building the line. Supervisor Steve Clark says while the proposed project would impact only a small percentage of the county’s overall population, it’s possible ramifications on those property owners can’t be overlooked…

Fellow supervisor Tim Fairchild said he wants more time to review references of one of the firms. The supervisors agreed to delay action on the matter until their next meeting, October 5th.

In other business, the supervisors voted unanimously to adopt a reclassification report for a proposed project in Drainage District 31, on the west edge of Superior. The supervisors again today (Tues.) heard from an attorney from Green Plains Renewable Energy, which owns the ethanol plant, which is opposed to the project. They also heard from a drainage attorney the county has retained on the matter.
