(Spirit Lake)– A fundraiser for several area Fire Departments that was scheduled for earlier this month but wound up getting postponed due to a blizzard will be held this weekend.
The “Battle Of The Chili Pots” will be held tomorrow (Sat.) evening. Jason Simpson of the Milford Fire Department says it will be going on from 5:00 until 7:00 pm at the Spirit Lake Fire Station…
“We decided to do a three-year rotation up and down the corridor and it started in Milford and then it went to Arnolds Park last year and this year the Spirit Lake Fire Department is going to be hosting it at their fire station from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm.”
Simpson says for $5, you’ll be able to buy a tasting bowl and be able to go to each department’s serving area…
“The area fire departments got together, well now this is going to be our third year of doing this, and we wanted to display our chili cooking skills between the departments, and the objective was to have the public be the judge.”
Proceeds from the event will be split between the departments and will be used to update gear and equipment.
