FSA Reminds Farmers Of CRP, A-R-C Sign-Ups

January 31, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– Ag producers are being reminded that sign-ups are underway for a couple of farm programs. Mike Yaggie of the Dickinson and Emmet County Farm Service Agencies says one of those is for the Conservation Reserve Program. He says the deadline for that is February 28thYaggie01

“We’re asking people to come in early because if you come in on February 28th we won’t get all the paperwork done. So please come in early and apply for that. The second deadline we want everyone to know about is March 15th for the ARC PLC and ARC County and ARC IC farm programs. You’ll be making that election for two years, 2019 and 2020. But again March 15th, which is coming up pretty soon, will be the deadline for that. After that on a year to year basis everyone will be able to make a separate election.”

Yaggie says you will need to have some figures with you when you sign up for those programs…Yaggie02

“One thing that you need to know about is the yield update process. The deadline for that is a little bit later, that’s going to be this summer. But we ask that everyone that’s able to bring that in while they’re making their ARC election we have that information and we will process it when we start getting some free time at the office because with this sign up we’re starting to get really busy. And then work closely with NRCS on the CRP sign up. They’re the technical experts on the program and what determines your eligibility for those different sign ups. But just make sure you’re working with them. Make sure you’re working with your seeding plan after you determine what plan you want to go into, and get your own estimates on your cost for inputs on those.”

You can find more information and schedule an appointment to sign up by contacting your local FSA office.
