(Estherville)– Freezing rain and drizzle that fell overnight and very early this (Wed.) morning resulted in very hazardous travel across the region, especially in areas just to the south and east of the Iowa Great Lakes.
Officials in Clay and Emmet counties say many roads in those areas are 100 percent ice covered and extremely hazardous.
We also have received reports of vehicles in the ditch and jackknifed semis in O’Brien county.
A winter weather advisory is in effect until 4:00 pm today (Wed.) for Buena Vista, Cherokee, Clay, Emmet, Kossuth, Palo Alto and Pocahontas counties.
Many schools in the area are either starting late or have called off classes altogether.
