Dickinson County, Northwest Financial Named Finalists In Healthiest State Initiative For 2020

(Spirit Lake)– It was announced today (Mon.) Dickinson county is one of seven finalists for the Healthy Hometown Community Award through the Healthiest State Initiative. Brandon Rohrig of Dickinson County Public Health has been helping organize the Healthy Hometown activities in Dickinson county and had this reaction to the announcement Dickinson county has been named a finalist…Healthiest State Awards01 

“We were very delightfully surprised. There’s been multiple community members and organizations that have contributed a lot to different wellness activities this last year and I was happy to see that we were nominated as one of the finalists for the Healthiest Community Award this coming year.”

Rohrig says it represents a lot of hard work by a lot of people…Healthiest State Awards02 

“So the Healthiest State Initiative at the high level is basically Iowa’s initiative to promote health and really push wellness and community betterment around the entire state in a more coordinated fashion and one of the ways that we here in Dickinson county are working towards that is our Healthy Hometown Community Initiative where we’ve done atleast seven different projects within the last year and continue to work towards different wellness activities moving forward and are actually currently having community meetings every single month as well.”

In addition, Northwest Financial Corporation was named one of three finalists in the medium workplace category.

Each finalist will be recognized and winners from each category will be announced at the Healthiest State Annual Awards ceremony February 6th in West Des Moines. Each winner will be awarded a grant to continue their work on improving the health and well-being of their employees, students or citizens.
