Lakes Regional Healthcare Putting Out A Call For Volunteers As We Head Into The New Year

January 03, 2020

(Spirit Lake)– Lakes Regional Healthcare is putting out a call for volunteers as we head into the new year. Jennifer Gustafson, Vice President of Marketing and Retail Services, says help is needed in several areas, including the hospital’s gift shop…LRH Volunteers01

“They are obviously the front line staff that greet and assist customers and wring up their purchases, and we have a really great gift shop, lots of items. There are two shifts weekdays there. Then we also need some volunteers for our coffee shop. We have coffee shop items brought in from Lisa’s Bake Shop, Spudnuts, and the Hy-Vee Bakery on the weekdays, in the morning, and into our coffee shop and we have volunteers that basically pick up those items and then sell them to visitors and patients and staff, and that’s in the mornings on the weekdays, early in the morning. And then we also would like some more volunteers in our east reception area. That’s right inside the east entrance and they help escort patients to where they may be going, whether that is lab or imaging or upstairs right at the moment to Spirit Lake Medical Center, just things like that.”

Gustafson adds the hours are flexible and they’ll work around your schedule…LRH Volunteers02

“You can really meet a lot of new people, get to know what’s going on at the hospital, and get to know a lot of our staff and other volunteers, and you can volunteer as often or as little as you prefer, whether that’s once a week or once a month, and if you have certain months that you want to take off like the winter or the summer, you can feel free to do that as well.”
